Stepping out of my box....

Reagan received a princess gardening kit for her birthday and has been dying to use it. The problem with that is that I cannot and have not ever been able to keep plants alive longer than a week or so. I have tried. I even killed bamboo. This plays a big part of our lack of landscaping which is something I'm hoping to work on this week actually. I'm going to ask for a bid for a rock garden all the way around the house with some bonzai trees or cactus or anything else I don't have to maintain. I'm sure it will fit right in within our neighborhood and really help our resale value. ;) Anyhow! My parents had some old flower boxes laying around so Mom painted Reagan's name on the side and we got to work.

So everyone cross your fingers that we end up with some flowers. Honestly though, Reagan is at the age that she'll probably believe me if I say the weeds that end up growing are flowers. Here's hoping!

Those of you that know me well, know that my love for chocolate runs deep. However that's about it for desserts for me. I'm not a pie, cake or crisp kind of girl. That being said, growing up, pies in our family came from the store and if they were homemade they had a graham cracker crust bought from the store. Don't get me wrong, my parents are amazing cooks and cooking together was our family time but when it came time for dessert, we just went to Genes. :) So of course I married into a family whose pies are homemade down to the crust. Which means my husband is used to eating those kind of pies. I have gotten several lessons and slowly but surely my pie making skills are evolving. I figure with Reagan, we'll start her early and truly, we're probably even on our skills! We thought the strawberries looked good at the farmer's market so we ended up with a strawberry pie. Luke says it tastes awesome, but he's a smart man. ;)

I had give her blueberries to eat so she'd quit eating all the strawberries!
