Oh Hawkeye!

We kennel trained Hawkeye as a puppy and not only did it work fabulously, it worked a little too well.

At around 9:00 at night at our house, you will begin to hear him cry. It is not a normal dog whimper. The first time people hear it, they are very alarmed that he is about to die very painfully. If this whining is ignored then he will sit at your feet and get louder. Continued ignoring will result in an 80 mass snorting at you and jumping onto your lap and whining directly in your face. All he wants is to be tucked in. Seriously, because we leave his kennel door open so that he can go in and out as he pleases. He will absolutely not go into his bed unless you go and close the door to the crate. Quite often I have had to reach in and pull him out to make him get up in the morning to go outside.

Unfortunately, now that the nursery will be occupied again (yay!!) he is losing his room. There is no reason for him to be in a kennel now. He hasn't had an accident in the house since the week we brought him home. He doesn't chew things up anymore and the worst habit he has is tee peeing the hallway when he's mad at us. Neither of us are huge fans of a gorgeous black wire crate as part of our interior decorating so we decided that the crate has to go. I found him the perfect bed. He loves it, you can tell by his deep slumber below.

Here's the problem. He won't go near the bed unless it is placed in the nursery. Along with his demands, he will whine and cry until we put a gate across the door to the nursery so that he feels he has been put to bed. We are not liking the idea of him sleeping in the nursery due to his snoring but it looks like Baby #2 might have a new roommate unless we can get him to move somewhere else in the house without being gated in.
