Earlier this week, we welcomed a new four legged family member. Luke and I have been talking about getting a puppy for awhile now and have been keeping an eye on a few breeder sites for a bulldog puppy that would fit into our family. However, several of our friends have adopted dogs recently and it makes me so happy to see the dogs with their families knowing they were rescued. So we decided to see what was available at our local shelter. Okay, I decided to see what was available and after I fell in love, Luke was a goner. ;)
We picked up Hawkeye to come with us to the shelter to meet "Brooks" with us. We let them meet and then took them on a walk on some trails around the grounds to make sure they got along. They got along just fine and Hawkeye's only problem was needing some water after the walk!
We tried getting "Brooks" to come to us when we called and he never did so we didn't feel too guilty about wanting to change his name. So we named him Trapper. Hawkeye is named after Hawkeye Pierce on M*A*S*H* and his best friend was Trapper John. We have high hopes that these two guys will best buddies.
So far we're on the right track. Hawkeye doesn't care at all that a new doggie is in his house, drinking from his water bowl or playing with his toys. In fact, he even lets's Trapper sleep in his bed. Makes sense that one of them actually use it!
Trapper is a beagle basset hound mix and we've seen lots of the nose to the ground sniffing and he locks right on the ducks and other birds that hang out behind our house. Here is a shot of him focused and ready to chase if I would just let him off the leash.
Somehow I got the two of them to look at me at the same time and not move!
Hawkeye is being a fantastic big brother!
Hawk looks a little annoyed but I swear it was just because I was trying to get him to look at me and he was trying to sleep. :)

Congrats on the new addition! He looks adorable!
