Staycation!

With Christmas falling on a Sunday this year we had a fantastic opportunity that we took full advantage of. Boeing shuts down for about two weeks at Christmas. This usually lines up within a day or two with my Winter Break. This year we were right on. We celebrated Deb and Les's wedding anniversary with a nice dinner and then we came home. On the 28th. That means that from the 28th to the 3rd, we were home. Yes, you read that right. We were home. I mean it! We went nowhere for 5 glorious days. There were days we didn't even get dressed! We stayed in our jammies from morning till time to get back into bed. Bedtimes didn't exist, routine was non existent. It was a.m.a.z.i.n.g and just told us that we have GOT to slow this crazy family down.

Reagan got a design your own headband kit and couldn't wait to do it. Usually I save these for rainy days or the long days of summer break but why not? We had nothing do so we sat down and made them. I was allowed to help minimally and I prepared myself to bite my tongue and just let her do her thing.

However, she truly impressed me! I helped wrap some of the ribbons that wind around some of the bands while she glued it down. That's all. She did the rest, ideas for design and all! The best part is that a few of these have already made their debut at preschool and have come home fully intact. Cute and quality! She'll be a future Project Runway winner.

I had to keep them busy while I got everything reorganized and the decorations down so they spent some time coloring in the sunshine. Yep, sunshine.

The weather was incredible and we got out to the park on New Years Eve in just our sweatshirts. We were definitely not the only ones, it was so nice!

Trying hard!

Daddy's Big Kids!

While we were heading to the car, we saw a family of deer cross right by the playground. The kids tried calling them closer but no luck.

That night we made popcorn for the kids and a bunch of junk food for us and spent a wonderfully quiet night in to ring in the New Year. We hope all of you had a wonderful holiday season with your family and wish you nothing but the best for a very happy 2012!
