Real Life Princesses!

Luke and I took Reagan to Disney's Princesses on Ice this morning. We were a little nervous because our sassy and tough little girl is also a big scaredy cat. Last summer I tried taking her to a movie and it didn't go well at all. We had to leave because she was so scared. She still won't sit and watch movies depending on what it is. Shrek literally made her pee her pants! However, Disney has done such a fantastic job branding their princesses in books and toys that Reagan knows all of them and of course wants to be just like them even though she doesn't really know their stories. She really loved the ice skaters during the Olympics so we decided this was the perfect opportunity to take her to a show.

All of the little girls wear their favorite princess attire to the show. When I told this to Luke, he was skeptical until I confirmed it with some veteran show goers. He was very happy to see all the other girls dressed up when we got there and even said that he would've felt bad if Reagan hadn't been dressed up.

VERY excited to see the princesses!

The show was at the new arena on Luke's college campus. Reagan ran right up to their mascot statue and asked to take  picture with the "gorilla" and Luke just shook his head. I mean obviously this a billiken and not a gorilla, right? In fairness, Luke has explained the billiken statue to her before but it was pretty funny to see his face.

Getting ready for the show and eating her snow cone from a Cinderella cup. We had fantastic seats and could see everything, it was great!

Of course, right off the bat, they had fireworks shoot off and Reagan freaked. The rest of the first half was spent in Daddy's safe lap. Really, there are too many witches in Disney movies!

She loved watching everything! I realize this is a dark picture but I was trying to be nice and not use my flash because there was a sign asking us not to but this is the only one I got with her crown on. When she got scared she said she wanted to go back to Edwardsville and we convinced her to stay because Cinderella was coming. Cinderella is her current favorite princess.

So they went through all the princess stories like Jasmine, Mulan, Belle (Reagan conveniently had to go potty during her's thank goodness! Luke said it was pretty scary and dark!) Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Ariel. So they all come back out and are doing a number together which was very much an end of the show wrap up number. Luke and I were rookies and didn't know they were going to do an intermission. I was really beginning to worry that they weren't going to have Cinderella and was trying to figure out how to explain this to Reagan when Goofy showed up on the ice with a glass slipper. I have never been a huge Goofy fan but I sure love him now!

Finally out came Cinderella. The whole second half was devoted to her story. This face made it all worth it!

One happy girl!

Mickey waving goodbye at the end of the show.

Waving bye to the princesses. It was so cool to see the excitement in her eyes. Disney really is magical!

Reagan has decided again that she wants to be Cinderella for Halloween, although it seems to change 5 times a day but I was able to convince her to take off her dress to keep it nice in case she does use it for trick or treating. It was literally out of one dress and into another. She eats, sleeps and breathes in dress up dresses. I wouldn't want it any other way. :)

  1. So glad to hear she liked it! We had fun as well, but I agree that the witches were rather scary!
