He's Here!

Today at 11:10 a.m. we welcomed our son, Corbin Alexander. He weighs 7 pounds, 10 ounces and is 21 and half inches long. He is absolutely perfect!

We went into the hospital around 1:00 a.m. and got a FABULOUS epidural. Unfortunately my contractions drastically slowed down at that point and there were concerns with his heartbeat. They broke my water to help get things going again and when that didn't work they started pytossin. The heartbeat was still not great so they kept upping the pytossin to get him to come sooner. My doctor assured me there was nothing to worry about and said that they were pretty sure there was a cord compressure somewhere along the way. They ended up replacing fluid to help cushion the cord and upped the pytossin some more so that we could get him out since the heartbeat was still having variables. When I was 5 cm, my incredible, wonderful, fabulous, amazing epidural ran out. Before they could replace the cartridge I was immediately at a 10 and it was a race to find my doctor and get him to our room because Corbin was coming. My doctor made it just in time, although the rest of the drugs never did! Corbin was born with his cord around his neck and received some oxygen but we were assured that it was very common and he is completely healthy. It was a very difficult and emtional birth and we feel so blessed that he is here healthy and perfect.

Here are some pictures of our wonderful family of four!
