Hawkeye is a saint and loves Reagan more than we can even explain. If we are outside talking with neighbors after Reagan is asleep, Hawkeye can found directly in front of her bed standing guard. He can be running full steam ahead after a toy or jumping around but if he sees Reagan in his way, he becomes unnaturally flexible and won't touch her. We, on the other hand, get an 80 pound sack thrown at us if we're in the way.

Trouble in Pet Paradise
Many of you know that we have the best animals in the world. No, really we do.
K.C. is equally as protective of Reagan. Ever since we brought Reagan home, if we don't get to Reagan fast enough when she's crying, K.C. is there making sure we're on our way. She's also had an amazing amount of patience with her. For some reason during the past few weeks, that patience has run out. K.C. has taken to "marking" on all of Reagan's things. It started out with her blanket that she kicks off at night. Then it was her actual bed. Next it was her clean clothes that hadn't made it to the closet yet. We started having Reagan bribe her by giving her treats to be nice. Here she is even trying to share her milk with K.C. We finally left treats in Reagan's bed to stop K.C. from peeing there. It worked! Instead she peed on a blanket that Reagan left in the living room and then on her jacket. K.C. will go all day without a problem. There will be no problems when we get home and check Reagan's room but before we put Reagan to bed there will be a little surprise. K.C. is still using her litter box and is not going anywhere except on Reagan's things. After three weeks of no improvement, Luke and I are making the hardest decision we've ever made as a couple and are looking for a new home for K.C. Its very hard to talk about and I'm crying now thinking about it! We're out of options and see this as only getting worse when the new little one arrives. We've started asking around for good homes but I'm not sure I could actually go through with taking her to a shelter. Until then, we just keep hoping and praying that she gets over this and things can go back to normal.

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about K.C.! I hope she can straighten up soon. I wonder what changed to make her act out in this way?
