We had to practice with Corbin for his costume but he quickly allowed it when he realized candy was involved. ;)
Edwardsville is a little different in that we trick or treat the night before Halloween every year. The night of Halloween, the town pretty much shuts down so everyone can attend the big Halloween parade through downtown. We solidified our tradition and had The Althage Family over for dinner and trick or treating.
Here we go!
It rained off and on like a switch through the walking to houses and Reagan was handling it pretty well. Each time though she began getting a little more upset. Then it really started to come down so we took shelter under a neighbor's porch and Luke was headed to get the truck to bring us home when of course it stopped again. So we decided to continue on. Reagan walks to the end of the driveway stands there by herself and in the most diva-like manner yells "I! WANT! TO! GO! HOME! NOW!" Apparently, the ONE Tinkerbelle movie she has ever watched talks about how the fairies can't fly when their wings get wet. Sigh.
Too bad, so sad fairy girl. You're walking home now regardless so you might as well hit a few houses on the way. :)
The Althage crew.
Corbin ended up with very little candy mostly because he was quite happy with that sucker in his hand. It was all he wanted, so he would walk up, say "Tick o Treat...Tank oo" and turn around and leave without getting candy. Although at one house, he asked for "I wan a sucka pease!" They weren't handing out suckers but their son who had already finished his rounds had one in his bag and gave it to him. It was so sweet that Corbin "traded" two of his pieces of candy for it. (Does it still count if Corbin doesn't know about that?)
Happy little Carter!
Finally getting his sucker!
The kids were so wiped out from a very busy weekend. They had their classroom parties on Friday, a special night with Aunt Jennie on Saturday and trick or treating late on a school night on Sunday. So when Halloween actually rolled around we were done. We skipped the parade, had popcorn and chips and "macamole" for dinner and called it a night!
