Sitting On the Other Side

We saw often how much we love our daycare/preschool and we really mean it. The kids begin learning from a curriculum as soon as they start at 6 weeks old working on their milestones and other academics. So now that Reagan is officially in the preschool part of Kindercare, we had our first parent teacher conference tonight. I'm not going to lie, I was nervous! I have lots of experience talking to other parents about their children's progress but it's completely different when it's my own kiddo!

Here is a picture of her portfolio and a stack of extra pictures that didn't make it into the binder. We love looking at all of the pictures and seeing her personality that we know and love shine through at school as well.

Her binder is set up into sections of development such as art, science, drama, self-help and many others. For each section there are pictures of Reagan involved activities that fall in those domains and little post-its with funny things that she said or did.

Here is her record sheet from being tested on her letters. She knows all of her upper and lower case letters and is beginning to learn most of their sounds as well.  Her teacher jotted down some of the cute things she was saying while she was testing her.

In her binder is also several pieces of her artwork. This one is obviously special to me because it says "My hero is my mommy because she takes me to the big park." It is also dated that she made this on my birthday.

Just another shot of her binder. It includes the same thing from her time in the 2 year old class and will move on with her to the fours room as well. It is so much work for them to do this for all of the students but it means a lot to us parents to have a ready made scrapbook and evidence that they are growing and learning just as perfect as they should. Our conference confirmed what we already knew. She's a genius whose vocabulary makes it hard to remember that she's just three- until her dramatic, sassy side shows up which is right on par with every other three year old. I made sure to ask a few times to make sure of that, I wonder if I will ever stop worrying about her development!
